NYU College of Dentistry (NYU Dentistry) offers Advanced Standing into the D.D.S. program for the internationally trained dentist who seeks to practice dentistry in the United States. Students admitted with advanced placement enter a 28 month, full-time program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).

Transcript Evaluation and Instructions

Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE)

  • Applicants must submit an official ECE course-by-course evaluation directly to ADEA CAAPID.
  • We do not accept evaluations from WES or any other credential evaluators.
  • Documents such as dental school transcripts, diplomas, and official transcripts from an accredited U.S. or Canadian institution must sent direclty to ADEA CAAPID.

Letters of Evaluation Instructions

The program requires three (3) Letters of Evaluation:

  • One (1) Letter of Evaluation must come from your dental school dean and Two (2) Letters of Evaluation from dental school faculty members.
  • All Letters of Recommendation must be sent directly to ADEA CAAPID.

TOEFL Requirement Instructions

  • All applicants must be proficient in the English language and are required to take the TOEFL iBT exam. The TOEFL exam will not be waived.
  • The minimum required score is 100; no exceptions will be made. We do not accept the "MyBest Scores" results.
  • We accept the TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition exam.
  • Should the TOEFL exam expire anytime between March 7, 2024 and January 2025, it has to be retaken and the new score of 100 or more, has to be submitted before June 1, 2024.

National Board Requirement Instructions

  • Applicants must pass the NBDE I & II or the Integrated INBDE exam.
  • The NBDE I & II or the INBDE score reports must be reported directly from the American Dental Association to ADEA CAAPID® before the application deadline.

Other Requirement Instructions

Background Checks
Prior to matriculation, all students admitted to NYU Dentistry must complete a criminal background check, the results of which must be satisfactory. Learn more about the process from ADEA.

Asynchronous Video Interview
Each applicant to NYU Dentistry must complete an asynchronous video interview via Kira Talent. Following submission of all required materials and the application fee, applicants will receive information on how to register for and complete the asynchronous video interview.

In-Person Advanced Standing Candidate Day
Following submission of the asynchronous interview, final candidates will receive an invitation to register for and attend an in-person Advanced Standing Candidate Day. Candidates selected to move forward to this final stage of admissions process will be contacted with additional details and registration information. 

It is highly recommended that all application requirements be completed before submitting to ADEA CAAPID. The Admissions Committee will only review applications that meet all mandatory requirements.
