The UMKC School of Dentistry offers an advanced standing educational program to train dentists with dental degrees from outside the United States who have a desire to have a United States dental degree from a Commission on Dental Accreditation approved institutional program. The program will result in the demonstration of knowledge, skills and values expected of any graduate of the UMKC School of Dentistry Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) program.
This program integrates internationally trained dentists into the third and fourth year of our traditional four-year DDS curriculum. Students accepted to the program will complete a full semester of preparation prior to matriculation into the third year cohort. The program length is 29-months. The cohort size is nine students.

Submit official Dental Diploma degree and transcripts. Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or World Evaluation Services (WES) transcript evaluation report on a course-by-course basis is required.
- Submit official copies of all academic credentials (mark sheets, score cards, transcripts, graduation certificates, degree certificates) with literal English certified translation. Official copies submitted through CAAPID will be accepted.
Letters of Evaluation Instructions

Three letters of recommendations: one from a dean and a faculty member of a dental school program attended plus a letter from a practicing dentist within the U.S.
TOEFL Requirement Instructions
- Must demonstrate English proficiency by providing official documentation of at least a score of 90 on the TOEFL (iBT).
National Board Requirement Instructions
· A passing score on Part I and Part II of the National Dental Board Examination -or- Integrated National Dental Board Examination.
Other Requirement Instructions

Evidence of a dental degree from a foreign country that does not have a reciprocal agreement for recognition with the Commission on Dental Accreditation (i.e., Canada). Minimum dental degree GPA of 3.0.
