The Louisiana State University School of Dentistry (LSUSD) offers a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. The program is offered at the Dental School Campus in New Orleans and at the LSUA Downtown Campus in Alexandria. The Dental Hygiene Program is an integral part of the LSU School of Dentistry. Dental hygiene students provide dental hygiene care as part of comprehensive dental treatment to patients of the dental school, members of the community, friends, and family.
The dental hygiene profession is grounded in rigorous evidence-based practice. Therefore, students entering the program must possess a strong foundation in the sciences and demonstrate the ability to understand, apply, and build upon established scientific principles.

Other Standardized Tests
The ACT and ATDH are required to be considered for admission into the LSUSD Dental Hygiene Program. A minimum composite ACT score of 20 is needed to be successful in the process. ACT super scores are accepted. At this time there is no minimum score for the ATDH but that is subject to change.

A minimum of 80 hours of observatrion or working in a dental setting with exposure to dental hygiene is required.
