The entry level Baccalaureate degree program in dental hygiene is a two year full-time curriculum.  UT Health San Antonio offers the Dental Hygiene Entry Level Program at the San Antonio, TX campus and the Laredo, TX campus.  The Dental Hygiene Entry Level Laredo program is an extention of the UT Health San Antonio Dental Hygiene Entry Level program.  Coures at the UT Center at Laredo consit of online classes taught by UT Health San Antonio Dental Hygiene faculty.  Dental Hygiene faculty teach at the simulation and radiology lab.  Students who see patients are supervised, monitored and evaluated by on-site dental hygiene faculty at each rotation site.  Laredo students will be required to attend the first 2 weeks of the Junior Fall semester in peron at the San Antonio Campus.  Prior to attending the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio applicants must complete general education prerequisite courses before entering the dental hygiene major.  This includes 2 years of Texas Core Curriculum and program prerequisite course work for a total of 60 semester credit hours.  

Our program, fully accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation, has a philosophy focused on student-centered learning and quality patient care. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take national, regional, and state licensing exams.

Additional Information

Students will receive their clinical education in a dental clinic setting.  All dental hygiene faculty are assigned to supervise clinic, and guide and mentor students.
