The University of Louisville School of Dentistry Dental Hygiene Program seeks to positively impact the education of students and the delivery of dental hygiene services to the public through innovative teaching and learning strategies, hands-on pre-clinical and clinical experiences, professional activities, and community service activities that will serve the dental profession, the university, and the community.  Graduates receive a baccalaureate degree sufficient in scope and depth to prepare graduates with a broad general education and high quality professional education that fosters their ability to adapt to the future and the changing complexities of health care. Opportunities for graduates are available in a range of employment settings including clinical private practice, educational services, research/scholarship, and community agencies and services.  Faculty members are committed to creating an educational environment that will foster the development of responsible professionals who will be able to realistically assess their own performance and direct their own professional growth and development. 

Housed within the School of Dentistry, the UofL Dental Hygiene program provides students with interprofessional dental opportuntiies and supports with the backing of over 60 years of innovation in the dental hygiene field. Students treat their patients and hone their skills in a newly renovated clinic space as well as additional specialty community setttings during their clinical rotations, all while studying under licensed faculty practitioners in a small student to faculty ratio.
