The Graduate Program in Endodontics at the University of Washington has a long history and was started by Dr. John Ingle in 1959. This was the first Endodontic program West of the Mississippi. Dr. Ingle began a long-standing tradition of excellence which continues to date. Dr. Eugene Natkin was Chair of the Department of Endodontics for sixteen years. Dr. Gerald Harrington became Chair in 1993. These two gentlemen have been responsible for enhancing the reputation of the program along with many others.
The Endodontic program is 26 months in duration, and a Masters thesis is required of each resident. Four applicants are accepted each year to start the following summer. The program begins in the third week of June, each year, and concludes 26 months later in the third week of August.
The program provides residents with comprehensive didactic and clinical training. This includes scientific literature that forms the basis of endodontic treatment along with intensive and comprehensive training in non-surgical and surgical endodontics. It also trains students in other dental subjects that are related to endodontic practice including practice management. Research is a part of the curriculum and residents are expected to present either their research or a table clinic at the American Association of Endodontists Annual Meeting. Another part of the program involves teaching the pre-doctoral students in their simulation lab course and in the predoctoral clinic.
Successful completion of the program enables the residents to be eligible for the American Board of Endodontics examinations.

Transcript Evaluation and Instructions
An official dental school transcript must be sent directly to ADEA PASS.
Letters of Evaluation Instructions
Three letters of evaluation and your dental school dean's evaluation are required to be submitted to ADEA PASS.
TOEFL Requirement Instructions
All candidates whose primary language is not English are required to take the TOEFL within two years of the deadline for applications the year that you apply. A minimum score of 100 is required. All scoRes should be submitted to ADEA PASS.
TOEFL iBT Home Edition is not accepted.
Other Requirement Instructions
National Board scores for Part 1 are required for all applicants. Part 2 is highly recommended, or completion of the INDBE. At minimum, the INDBE should be scheduled prior to submitting your application.
