Specific didactic courses are provided through Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, however, the main focus of the residency is clinical training conducted at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Childrens Hospital of Chicago. This program leads to a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from Northwestern University.
The pediatric dentistry program has been planned in accordance with the guidelines for postgraduate education of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and is fully accredited by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation. Residents in pediatric dentistry receive clinical training at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, a unique facility that offers a variety of clinical experiences for the student, including comprehensive patient management, behavior management, hospital dentistry, general anesthesia, sedation, pediatric medicine, growth and development, and orthodontics. Seminars and clinical practice instructions are provided in the comprehensive practice of Pediatric Dentistry and specialties of pediatric medicine as they relate to dental management of both well and medically compromised children.
