The Orofacial Pain (OFP) Internship at Boston Medical Center (BMC) /BU Dental School (GSDM) is a one-year program for dentists who want to expand their knowledge of the management of complex orofacial pain conditions. This program is also aimed to strengthen the trainee’s subsequent application for a formal OFP residency program by providing relevant clinical experience and adequate opportunity for relevant research in orofacial pain.
The program is open to dentists graduated from CODA-accredited U.S./Canadian dental schools and non-CODA accredited international dental schools.
The program will focus heavily on clinical management of various OFP patients and involve treatment of a diverse array of pain conditions of the head and neck region. Students will be able to diagnose and treat patients with a range of conditions and symptoms. The program emphasizes developing robust clinical abilities in assessing, diagnosing, and treating a diverse range of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and orofacial pain conditions. Patient care is provided in the Orofacial pain clinic at BMC. The program provides a unique interdisciplinary environment, with other medical specialty clinics available within the BMC.
