Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) is a nationally recognized healthcare system with three hospital campuses, thirteen primary care practices and one dental practice location serving communities north of Boston, Massachusetts. Through our many academic programs and affiliation with the Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM), we are pleased to offer a premier learning experience.

CHA is unique in many ways. Our multidisciplinary staff is dedicated to our communities and to our diverse patient population. Through their efforts, we have developed a program with both clinical and community learning opportunities.

Over the past decade, we have been recognized many times for our innovative approaches to care. The American Hospital Association recognized the Alliance for "excellence in community service" in health care. We are one of seven U.S. institutions chosen to participate in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Pursuing Perfection program. Since 2001, we have been recognized with six prestigious awards from the National Association of Public Hospitals, including recognition of our culturally competent programs. Our Institute for Community Health provides a focus for relevant research and education.

The General Practice Residency at CHA is a fully accredited program designed to provide residents with a unique environment to sharpen their clinical expertise and achieve excellence across a broad spectrum of dental procedures. Our curriculum is built upon the Oral Physician Model, training residents to manage dental and oral conditions and gain competency in comprehensively treating medically complex populations.

Clinical training spans multiple sites and includes rotations in:

  • Anesthesia

  • Medicine

  • Emergency Medicine

  • Operating Room Dentistry

  • Pediatric Dentistry

  • Inpatient Child/Adolescent Psychiatry

  • Public Health Outreach

To round out their experience, residents participate in emergency department and inpatient on-call services for the CHA hospital system.

The program is affiliated with the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and our faculty have Harvard appointments.  Scholarly activity and academic courses are provided to the resident through HSDM courses, seminars, and guest lectures, and a wide variety of educational opportunities are available to those interested to further their experience beyond what is offered in the residency program.  This residency is both intense and satisfying for the dental graduate with an inquisitive mindset who has the desire to set the strongest possible foundation for their future career.

Thank you again for your interest in Cambridge Health Alliance!
