General Practice Dentistry Residency Program, 501 W 14th St., Rm 2W236A Wilmington, Delaware, 19801
The Christiana Care Health System, General Practice Dentistry Residency Program, is a one year hospital based residency. All disciplines of dentistry are practiced including; Periodontics, Endodontics, Pediatric Dentistry as well as Fixed and Removeable Prosthodontics. Implant Prosthodontics is a prominent part of our curriculum.
Residents rotate through Emergency Medicine, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Anesthesiology. They consult on medically compromised patients both inpatient and outpatient. They are also assigned to O.R. cases with staff attendings to treat patients that cannot be treated in the normal office setting.
A robust didactic and clinical curriculum introduces the residents to a wide variety of philosophies of dentistry as well as specialty and special interest areas in dentistry including; Oral Medicine, Sleep Dentistry, Aligner Therapt, Botox, and Advanced Restorative. Residents interact with over sixty volunteer staff dentists and faculty with a wide array of expertise allowing residents to increase their knowledge base well beyond dental school and to introduce new techniques and information. Areas such as Practice Management, Public Health, Leadership, Advocacy, and Personal Finance are also covered in the didactic lectures. Residents have the opportunity to network with many of the private practice attendings on our staff, and as guestes at functions of the Delaware State Dental Society and the Delaware Academy of General Dentistry.
To truly appreciate our beautifully renovated dental clinic and meet and interact with our current residents and faculty, please consider visiting us for a one day shadowing experince.
