Geisinger Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery services a population of approximately 1.3 million patients in Central and Northeast Pennsylvania. In the Northeast region, residents rotate at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (Wilkes-Barre, Level I Trauma Center) and Geisinger Community Medical Center (Scranton, Level II Trauma Center). In the Central region, residents cover Geisinger Medical Center (Danville, Level I Trauma Center) and Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital (Bloomsburg, Community Center).
All faculty in our program are American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) board-certified. Our scope of practice includes dentoalveolar, implants, outpatient anesthesia, orthognathic surgery, obstructive sleep apnea (including hypoglossal nerve stimulation), TMJ (i.e. minimally-invasive arthroscopy and total alloplastic joint reconstruction), trauma, benign/malignant pathology, salivary gland surgery (i.e. minimally-invasive sialendoscopy and major salivary gland surgery), complex reconstructive surgery (i.e. microvascular surgery and nerve reconstruction) and multi-disciplinary secondary cleft and craniofacial surgery.
A 6-year Integrated OMS-MD track is offered in collaboration with the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine (Scranton, PA). Two residents, per year, are accepted.

Please upload your DAT and CBSE score reports to the PASS application. Following the official MATCH date, our program also seeks 4 preliminary interns who complete a 12 month internship at either the Central or Northeast campus. Note: Candidates will need to be eligible for a PA dental or medical license prior to July 1st of their matriculating year. If an accredited residency has not been completed, candidates will need to have completed a clinical examination, including CDCA (formerly NERB), CRDTS, WREB, SRTA, or CITA is needed.
