Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center is a community hospital located in suburban Montclair, New Jersey approximately 12 miles west of NYC. Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center is  committed to the education of residents in General Dentistry, Family Medicine and Internal Medicine. Dental Residents will work alongside their medical colleagues to provide a high level of comprehensive dental services. All phases of dentistry are seen by the dental residents including Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Endodontics, Periodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry.  The attending dentists are in private practice and come to Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center to provide supervision for the residents in all aspects of care.  The program focuses on providing a high level of comprehensive dental services in a modern 6 operatory facility. Inpatient consultations are provided for emergent dental needs of those who are in the hospital.

Emergency treatment is provided on an ongoing basis for patients who have acute dental problems.

The learning environment is on a post-graduate level and treatment is rendered that is more complex than at the dental school level. Residents are assigned patients for comprehensive care and follow them throughout their course of treatment.

The outpatient facility has 6 operatories  that are fully equipped for four-handed dentistry. The support staff includes a receptionist, business coordinator, hygienists, and 4 full-time dental assistants. Residents learn to function the way a private practice operates.

Comprehesive care is also provided in the operating room for those special needs patients unable to tolerate treament in an outpatient setting.

Conferences are interactive and involve all of the phases of dentistry with an emphasis on treatment planning and overall management of patients. Several series including ethics, practice management,  and acute medical situations are held in conjunction with the medical residents where you learn how to discuss  the interaction of dentistry and medicine.
