The 12-month Los Angeles General Medical Center GPR Program is an advanced dental education program located in Los Angeles. Residents provide comprehensive dental care for patients at both Los Angeles General Medical Center (General Hospital) and Los Angeles Ambulatory Care Center Veterans Affairs. Approximately 60-70 percent of the resident’s time is devoted to delivery of oral health care.

Residents engage in patient centered care for individuals that are both medically and dentally complex under the guidance and training of general dentists and specialists. Residents train under the supervision of the faculties of the Ostrow School of Dentistry and the Keck School of Medicine of USC, primarily at the Los Angeles General Medical Center and the Los Angeles VA. Some training is also conducted at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center and the Ostrow School of Dentistry.

In addition to clinical dentistry, the program provides residents with a broad range of experience with rotations in: operating room (OR), oral surgery, dental pediatrics, and special patient care, medical anesthesiology, medical primary care and emergency medicine.

Supplementing advanced clinical care, the GPR program incorporates a variety of educational lectures, seminars, and activities. Furthermore, as graduate students of the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry, residents have access to the breadth and depth of resources offered by a renowned institution.

The program is designed in conformance with the guidelines of the Council on Dental Education and the Commission on Accreditaion of the American Dental Association. A certificate is awarded upon satisfactory completion of the program.

Note that this program does not accept international applicants.
