Program Contact
The 36-month course in prosthodontics teaches didactic and clinical skills leading to competency in the specialized practice of prosthodontics. The program provides a basic science foundation for clinical and technical skills, incorporating studies in physical diagnosis, anatomy, oral pathology, pharmacology, and oral biology.
A robust literature review is run with the goal of providing as much evidence base as possible for selection of treatment for patients.
There is an emphasis on implant and fixed prosthodontics. Residents will have opportunity to place dental implants and be immersed in all digital aspects of digital dentistry from planning implant placements to fabrication of restorations. Patients requiring interdisciplinary care are frequently encountered, so the program is allied with the Ostrow School of Dentistry's other Advanced Programs; integrated patient care is stressed. Principles of esthetics are applied to reconstructions that are executed and preservation of tooth structure and long term survival of restorations is emphasized. First year members of the program will be paired with third years that will be finalizing their reconstructions. This opportunity will allow them to understand the intricacies of complex prosthodontic care. All residents will be encouraged and supported to challenge the American Board of Prosthodontics certifying exam.
