The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at Highland Hospital in Oakland, CA is sponsored solely by  Alameda Health System.   Highland Hospital is working in affiliation with the University of California, San Francisco, to provide both a clinical and didactic educational experience and Attending coverage. The program is fully accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.  Currently, there are three residents in each class for a total of 12 residents.

In this 48-month, year-round program, our residents receive instruction from faculty in the basic sciences of anatomy, pathology, pharmacology and physiology. They also gain valuable clinical experience in a variety of areas, including: dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, dentofacial deformities, pathology, temporomandibular joint disorders, aesthetic evaluation, reconstruction, trauma and management of cleft lip and palate.

Upon the successful completion of the residency program, each resident receives an Advanced Education in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery certificate.
