Program Contact
The Kasiska Division of Health Sciences at Idaho State University sponsors the Idaho Advanced General Dentistry Program (IAGD), an AEGD Residency.
Goals of the Program as described in our Mission Statement and Philosophy are:
- Provide an outstanding educational experience delivering patient-centered dental care, with a strong focus on underserved populations and community service
- Expand clinical knowledge, skills, and experiences beyond dental school education
- Increase competence in modern standards of care and practice management within an integrated multidisciplinary environment
- Foster personal responsibility for lifelong learning and continual advancement of clinical skills while delivering compassionate, competent care
The Program is designed to provide clinical and didactic experience at the postdoctoral level in all areas of dentistry with an emphasis on multidisciplinary care in complex cases, including training in advanced techniques:
- Implant placement and restoration including All-on-X cases
- IV sedation certification
- Full Digital Dentistry Workflow including
- Primescan/Primemill
- Shining 3D Printer, Aoralscan Elite photogrammetry scanner
- Orthophos CBCT imaging systems
- R2Gate Software to design surgical guides for implant placement
- Full mouth rehabilitation and cosmetic dentistry
- Periodontal and oral surgery, including sinus lifts, PRF, and 3rd molar extractions
Residents receive their education from highly trained and dedicated faculty, many who have completed our residency, as well as several specialists from the surrounding area. Specific instruction is provided in the management of medically compromised patients and dental phobic patients.
The didactic curriculum is rich in Continuing Education Programs on a variety of topics, supplemented by Spear Education Online Learning and local study clubs.
The majority of residency time is spent delivering comprehensive patient care in state-of-the-art operatories, supported by dental assistants and staff, simulating a small group private practice environment. Each resident spends at least one day a month providing care at the local FQHC to enhance clinical experiences.
The Program is a one-year educational program leading to a certificate upon successful completion of the program.
The IAGD operates from two clinical training sites. The original site is in Pocatello, and the sister site is in Meridian.
