The twenty-four-month program in advanced education in pediatric dentistry is designed to offer the student a balanced curriculum in both didactic and clinical areas. Emphasis is placed on clinical outpatient pediatric dentistry, hospital dentistry, conscious sedation, behavior, and wellness as well as community outreach and advocacy. The goal of the program is to prepare future educators, mentors, researchers, and leaders in the specialty of Pediatric Dentistry as well as qualified clinicians for private practices and community service. The program is sponsored by the Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida/Lee Memorial Health System and will be approved and accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). Upon successful completion of all requirements, the student is awarded a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and meets the eligibility requirements for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Additional Information

The Nichols Pediatric Dentistry Clinic at Healthcare Network is a state-of-the-art clinical facility. The facility includes a patient waiting area, fourteen fully equipped treatment rooms including digital radiography and computerized chair side record keeping, digital panoramic and cephalometric X-ray facilities, two oral and IV sedation suites, dental laboratory space, business and faculty office space, resident study carrels, conference room and staff lounge. Each resident is assigned his/her own treatment room(s) and dental assistant. 

  • Three chairs at our Dental Care Immokalee Clinic for outpatient, clinical pediatric dentistry
  • Two chairs in our Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Unit
  • Integrated Medical and Behavioral Health rotations on site at Healthcare Network 
  • Golisano Children’s Hospital in Fort Myers, FL for OR, Anesthesia, In-patient, Craniofacial and ED rotations
