  The LSU School of Denitstry program in Pediatric Dentistry is university-based and balanced with significant hospital and extramural affiliations. The program is designed to prepare highly qualified specialists for the clinical practice of pediatric dentistry or careers in teaching or research. The twenty-four-month course of study includes (1) seminars in clinically oriented basic sciences, (2) instruction in advanced clinical procedures, including minor tooth movement, (3) training in hospital procedure, including general anesthesia and moderate oral sedation, (4) experiences in providing comprehensive dental health for children with special healthcare needs and (5) courses in research methodology and biomedical sciences applicable to health care in children. A research project is required for certification.

The program has been planned in accordance with the standards of the Commission on Dental Accreditation Advanced Specialty Education Programs in Pediatric Dentistry and is accredited by the American Dental Association, Commission on Dental Accreditation. Upon completion of the program, the postgraduate student receives a Masters in pediatric dentistry (optional) and meets eligibility requirements for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry examination.

Transcript Evaluation and Instructions

Unofficial transcripts are accepted for consideration during the application process. If an offer of enrollment is extended, official transcripts are required along with a INDBE PASS score. Dental school and any other post-grad education transcripts are to be included.

Letters of Evaluation Instructions

Three letters of evaluation are required; one must be from a pediatric dentistry faculty member. 

TOEFL Requirement Instructions

TOEFL scores are only required if not a native English speaker.

A master's degree is optional. Stipends are as follows: PGY1= $54,815 and PGY2= $56,652.
