The Advanced Education in Periodontics Program at Marquette University School of Dentistry is a three-year program. A student in the program must complete a minimum of 50 credit hours of course work, including 12 credit hours of clinical practice and 6 credit hours of thesis work. The remaining credits will be from courses assigned by the course director which are specific to periodontology. The periodontics program requires three years of direct patient care. Satisfactory completion of the didactic and clinical components of the program results in a Certificate in Periodontics through the Marquette University Graduate School. Satisfactory completion of the research component of the programs results in a Master of Science in Dentistry degree through the Marquette University Graduate School. The master’s degree is required in order to receive the specialty certificate.

Transcript Evaluation and Instructions
Official transcripts are necessary from all current and previous colleges/universities. International applicants must have course grades converted to numerical values of 4.000, 3.000, 2.000, and 1.000 or to corresponding letter grades of A, B, C, and D, respectively by the Educational Credential Evaluators Inc. (ECE). Where such a conversion is not possible, an explanation of the grading system used in the foreign dental school and undergraduate institution should accompany the official English translation of the grade transcripts.
Undergraduate and dental school grade-point averages, and class rank in dental school are required.

For international applicants only: a TOEFL or IELTS score are the only acceptable proofs of English proficiency. Minimally accepttable TOEFL and IELTS score is 95 and 7, respectively. "My Best" TOEFL scores are accepted but all test scores included must be valid within 2 years of the application deadline.

- A completed Marquette University application does not need to be completed until selection is made.

- Scores from the National Board Dental Examinations, Part I and Part II are required only from graduates of U.S./Canadian dental schools.
