The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Medstar Washington Hospital Center has provided inpatient and outpatient services to the metropolitan Washington, DC, community since 1936. The oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program is a four-year program with three available positions each year. The program offers an interdisciplinary look at oral and maxillofacial surgery, featuring a high volume of patients with a wide range of conditions. Residents learn the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, ranging from elective procedures to complicated surgicial conditions. Residents work in a variety of settings, providing services in the ambulatory care center, emergency department, MedSTAR trauma unit, operating room and offsite affliated instituitions-- VA, NIH and Children's National Medical Center , under the close supervision of more than 20 attending oral & maxillofacial surgeons.
