Dental Residency - Morristown - Atlantic Health

Clinical Experience

  • Become proficient in all aspects of dentistry due to no affiliated specialty programs and limiting to general practice with only five residents in the program.
  • Become confident in your skills by treating 40–50 patients per week, including children, seniors, medically compromised, and developmentally disabled patients.
  • Work with 50 different attendings, including all specialties.
  • Practice four-handed dentistry, with one assistant per resident.
  • Provide restorative and oral surgical care in the OR and handle trauma in the clinic, OR, and emergency room.
  • Participate in our Oro-facial Pain Center.

Advanced Skills & Technology

  • Develop complex diagnostic treatment planning and clinical skills.
  • Use a surgical microscope located in each treatment room.
  • Learn rotary endodontics with warm vertical obturation.
  • Use scanner technology and Cerec milling to provide same-day restorations.
  • Train with lasers.
  • Perform implant placement and restoration.

Educational Components

  • Attend Journal Club and review research articles.
  • Focus on comprehensive care, continuity of care, and cosmetic dentistry.
  • Simulate private practice by working with full-time hygienists and managing emergency patients while maintaining regularly scheduled appointments.
  • Become proficient in performing a history and physical (H&P).

Hospital Rotations

  • Two-week rotations in internal medicine and anesthesiology.
  • One-week OR rotation learning venipuncture.
  • Interface with all hospital departments to provide comprehensive patient care.

Call Responsibilities

  • Cover on-call every fifth day and every fifth weekend.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Stipend: $76,954
  • Meal allowance: $650

  • Wellness stipend: $750
  • Paid time off: 25 days (includes holidays)
