New York Medical College School of Medicine General Dental Practice Residency

Training Sites within the Clinical Consortium for Academic Year 2024-2025 are:

NYC H+H/Metropolitan, New York, NY  - 5 positions
Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY  - 3 positions
Phelps Hospital|Northwell Health and the Open Door Family Medical Centers, Sleepy Hollow, NY, and other area locations - 12 positions

In addition to the 12-month residency, the program offers a limited number of 2nd year option positions each academic year, which include one of the following areas of focus at this time: Public Health, Restorative Implantology, or Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Transcript Evaluation and Instructions

Undergraduate transcript, graduate school transcript (if applicable), and dental school transcript are required. Applicants who received their undergraduate training outside the US and Canada must ensure that they have met the New York State Education Department's requirements for undergraduate education.

Letters of Evaluation Instructions

The Program requires two dental school faculty letters of recommendation as well as the dental school's insitutional/dean's evaluation.

Interview Schedule

The Program begins interviewing candidates in November 2024 and continues into December 2024. Candidates must first attend a virtual Program Overview via Zoom, held three or four times throughout the interview period. The Program Overview includes information about the NYMC GPR Program and the three training sites (Metropolitan, Phelps/Open Door, and Westchester Medical Center) as well as the opportunity to speak with current residents and Program faculty site directors. After attending the overview, candidates are scheduled for a one-on-one interview with a faculty member, via Zoom.

Additional Information

The Program considers only those candidates with degrees from US or Canadian CODA-accredited dental schools. This includes those who have advanced standing degrees at a CODA-accredited dental school. In addition, the Program requires that candidates who received their undergraduate education at a non-US institution ensure that their undergraduate education meets or exceeds the New York State education requirements for dental licensure, which are listed on the New York State Education Department website under license requirements for dentists.
