Oral & Maxillofacial Residency Program, 40 Sunshine Cottage Road, Skyline Building, Suite 2N-B16, Valhalla, New York 10595
The four year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program is sponsored by New York Medical College. The program accepts two candidates each academic year. A Certificate is presented to those candidates who successfully complete the program. In addition, the program offers an M.D. Option at New York Medical College – School of Medicine to those qualified residents who successfully complete the OMS program and meet requirements. The OMS residency program is designed to provide clinical, didactic, and hospital experience at the postdoctoral level in OMS. The residents will utilize two clinical training sites of New York Medical College for their clinical activity: NYC Health+Hospitals/Metropolitan and Westchester Medical Center. The program gives the resident the knowledge, skills and judgment necessary to qualify for certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In addition to training in all phases of minor and major oral and maxillofacial surgery, the residents rotate through the Departments of Anesthesiology, Medicine, and Surgery.
The Standards for Advanced Specialty Education Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the American Dental Association are the underlying basis for the OMS program with the expectation of graduates becoming Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
