The Section of Growth and Development (Pediatric Dentistry Division) of the College of Dental Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center is the professional home of postdoctoral residency training in pediatric dentistry and is affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian Kids. The program accepts five postdoctoral residency fellows per year for the two-year traineeship and enables residents to meet the Board eligibility requirements of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Our graduates go on to build thriving careers in both private practice and academia.

Transcript Evaluation and Instructions

Applicants must submit unofficial undergraduate and official dental school transcripts directly through ADEAPASS (the centralized application service for dental postdoctoral programs).

Letters of Evaluation Instructions

Applicants must submit a minimum of four recommendation letters. One must be an Institutional Evaluation letter from the Dean of Students at the applicant's dental school, and the remaining three must be professional evaluation letters from established dental faculty.

Other Requirement Instructions

We participate in the Match and accept applications through ADEAPASS from eligible students on track to receive a professional degree from an accredited dental school who have successfully completed the National Board Dental Examinations and hold an acceptable US visa for residency training (the Division is unable to sponsor visa applications).

To be considered, applicants must:

  • Complete the ADEAPASS application
  • Pass the INBDE on the first attempt
  • Submit a CV in standard format
  • Report unofficial DAT scores
  • Provide a personal statement
  • Participate in an in-person interview, if invited
