As a leader in predoctoral and postgraduate orthodontic education, the NYU Dentistry Department of Orthodontics has been spearheading the path of clinical excellence built on a strong foundation of evidence-based orthodontics. We developed a competency-based instructional model based on thinking skills and built the first program to provide clinical training and experiences to predoctoral students in esthetic-oriented orthodontic treatment using clear aligners.

Our postgraduate orthodontic program has been designed as an intensive and exciting three-year journey that aims to develop orthodontists, leaders in our field, and pioneers of a new generation of orthodontists. Postgraduate students are involved in diagnosing and treating all severities of malocclusion and spend most of their time gaining vast clinical experience, including fixed/removable appliances, TADs, orthopedic therapy, multidisciplinary treatment, and collaboration with the orthognathic surgery department and the craniofacial team. All PG students are mentored and encouraged to be ABO certified by graduation.
