Program Contact
The Department of Dental Medicine at North Shore University Hospital offers a one-year program in General Dentistry which provides a comprehensive clinical and educational experience in every area of dentistry. Residents fulfill their clinical experience at two sites: North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Residents are given an opportunity to apply for an optional more advanced second year where they may serve as Chief Resident in General Dentistry. Granted full approval by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, the program is designed to provide residents with a progressive and exciting learning experience within the hospital setting, drawing upon all the resources of our sophisticated medical center as well as the entire Northwell Health System, one of the largest clinical medical programs in the country with over 1200 residents and fellows and 90 graduate training programs. A total of 14 first year resident positions are offered annually. There are five second year positions as either chief residents or fellows. The department also sponsors a two-year program in Implant Dentistry, which commences as part of the second year of the program and extends to a part time third year. Two individuals are accepted annually.
