The OMS residency is fully accredited by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation. As part of the One Brooklyn Health system our residents participate in the care of patients at three hospitals- Brookdale, Interfaith, and Kingsbook Hospitals.  This 48 month program offers the standard rotations in Anesthesia (5 months), Medicine (3 Months),  General Surgery (4 months) and Electives (2 Months).  Our senior residents (PGY-3 and PGY-4) rotate to UT/Tyler and Christos Mary Francis Hospital in Tyler, Texas for a total of four months/year. Dental licensure in any US state is required prior to this rotation. Electives offered are in the surgical subspecialties. Formal didactics of the program include: Weekly Grand Rounds, with Lectures by Faculty, Residents, and Guests; Case Presentations and Journal Club. Residents may attend local Oral-Maxillofacial Society Meetings (NY,NJ,CT) as well as other hospital sponsored programs. Each year, residents must produce a clinical or research paper that would be acceptable for publication.  This is a clinically oriented program with close attending supervision. We have a strong emphasis on ambulatory anesthesia with our residents easily meeting CODA anesthesia requirements early in their program. Our Maxillofacial trauma experience is comprehensive with no competing services. Our aim is to produce well trained OMS, capable of Board certification and ready to serve in their community.
