The PRH Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program, conducted at the Austin Institute of Dental Medicine in Austin, Texas, is a 12 month, academically structured postgraduate program designed to strengthen clinical excellence beyond predoctoral training and prepare dentists for independent, high-level practice. The program emphasizes comprehensive patient care, sound clinical judgment, interdisciplinary treatment planning, and professional responsibility within a modern academic health environment.

The curriculum is clinically driven and built around progressive responsibility in patient care. Residents gain advanced experience in comprehensive treatment planning and sequencing, restorative and esthetic dentistry, surgical extractions, implant placement, endodontic diagnosis and treatment, periodontal therapy, fixed and removable prosthodontics, management of medically complex patients, pediatric and special needs care, and emergency and episodic treatment. Clinical training is intentionally designed to bridge the transition from dental school to advanced independent practice through broad exposure, increasing complexity, and close faculty mentorship.

Didactic instruction is integrated directly with clinical training and reinforces biomedical sciences, oral pathology, pharmacology, pain management, radiography and CBCT interpretation, evidence based dentistry, literature review, and interdisciplinary care. Residents participate in structured seminars, workshops, conferences, and case based discussions that strengthen diagnostic reasoning and clinical decision making. Scholarly activity, faculty mentorship, and formal evaluation are built into the educational model, preparing graduates to function as confident, well rounded oral health care providers ready for comprehensive practice or further advanced training.
