The PRH Advanced Education Program in Endodontics, conducted at the Austin Institute of Dental Medicine in Austin, Texas, is a 24 month, academically grounded specialty program designed to prepare dentists for advanced practice in endodontics through intensive clinical training, a strong biologic foundation, and structured scholarly development. The program emphasizes diagnostic excellence, evidence based care, and the thoughtful integration of contemporary technology into specialty practice.

Clinical education is progressive and competency based, allowing residents to develop increasing independence while managing the full spectrum of endodontic care. Residents gain advanced experience in diagnosis of pulpal and periapical disease, non surgical root canal treatment for all tooth types, retreatment of failed cases, management of calcified canals and anatomic complexities, microsurgical endodontics and apicoectomy, vital pulp therapy, regenerative procedures, treatment of traumatic dental injuries, and management of cracked teeth and resorptive defects. Interdisciplinary coordination with other dental specialties is an integral part of the clinical experience.

The didactic curriculum provides a structured foundation in pulpal and periapical pathophysiology, microbiology of endodontic infections, pain mechanisms and management, pharmacology, materials science and biocompatibility, and evidence based clinical decision making. Residents train in a modern clinical environment that incorporates advanced imaging, CBCT interpretation, microsurgical instrumentation, and specialty specific technologies into daily patient care. Scholarly activity is required and supported through faculty mentorship and a defined research framework, helping graduates develop the clinical judgment, technical precision, and academic discipline expected of contemporary endodontic specialists.
