WE ARE NOT A FIFTH YEAR OF DENTAL SCHOOL!
Now that we've gotten that out of the way, we can tell you what we are:
The Regions Hospital Advanced Education in General Dentistry Training Program is one of the most unique programs in the country. Regions Hospital is part of HealthPartners, the largest consumer-governed, Non-profit health care organization in the nation. HealthPartners is nationally recognized for providing cutting edge, person centered evidence-based care to our patients.
Care provided to our dental patients is based on their risk profile as well as taking into account the Social Determinants of Health that influence their oral health status. To aid us in documentation and data collection, we utilize the same Electronic Health Record (Epic) as all of the other medical providers in our organization. This also allows us to better integrate the patient’s oral health care with their general health. Communication with patients’ medical providers is facilitated by this software. Each resident will have up to date information about their patient’s general medical health as well as their oral health history and status.
Data is also collected on the practice patterns of each resident and quarterly reports are provided which detail that data. This allows the resident and our faculty to identify areas of strength as well as areas in need of improvement, in real time.
Residents will work with our experienced and dedicated general dentistry and specialty faculty. These faculty will be 100% focused on them while they are supervising, however, they also maintain active practices.
Residents will work closely with a dental team including dental assistants and dental hygienists.
Our program is located in the city of St. Paul, capital of the State of Minnesota. St. Paul, and neighboring Minneapolis make up the Twin Cities, an incredibly rich and diverse area with dramatic skylines, exciting pro sports, award-winning theater, renowned restaurants and a booming craft beer scene. Discover the natural beauty of dozens of trails, parks and waterways, such as the Chain of Lakes and the Mississippi River. Shop at local boutiques and the nation’s largest mall, Mall of America, with no tax on clothing or shoes. You can also attend one of the hundreds of annual events in the region, from small-town celebrations to one of the largest state fairs in the country.
