Program Contact
The Dental Anesthesia Residency program at Stony Brook Medicine (previously called Stony Brook University Medical Center) is a three-year CODA accredited Dental Anesthesia Residency Program
Four applicants are selected each year to learn in a tertiary care hospital (Stony Brook University Hospital) that includes the only Level I Trauma Center in Suffolk County, NY. Dental anesthesia residents are fully integrated into the physician anesthesia-training program. Our dental anesthesia residents participate in the comprehensive academic/didactic program of the anesthesia department and take call with the physician anesthesia residents.
Clinical training takes place in Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook Ambulatory Surgical Center, Northport VA Hospital, Dental Care Center of Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine and in private offices. At the completion of three years of training, the dental anesthesia residents should feel comfortable treating pediatric patients through geriatric patients and healthy as well as patients with multiple medical comorbidities. Because we have extensive office-based training, the transition from our training program to providing office-based anesthesia is as seamless as possible.
Please see our web site for a more detailed explanation of the Stony Brook Medicine Dental Anesthesiology Residency Program. If you have additional questions, please call the program director, Dr. Ralph Epstein @ 631-624-7005
