The Temple University Hospital Pediatric Dental Residency Program is a 24 month hospital based certificate program fully accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. The program is designed to prepare residents for practice in pediatric dentistry and certification with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Residents receive in depth training in Pediatric Dentistry comprised of: comprehensive care of infants, children and adolescents including those with special health care needs; pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic behavior management techniques; pulp and periodontal therapy; growth and development; treatment of patients under conscious sedation; treatment of patients in the operating room under general anesthesia; and management of traumatic injuries and emergency care. The program is affiliated with St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, Cooper University Hospital and Special Smiles, LTD offering residents diverse experiences in anesthesiology, pediatric medicine, operating room dentistry as well comprehensive care for patients with special health care needs. Additionally, Cooper University Hospital Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Team provides residents with exposure to various phases of craniofacial and cleft palate treatment planning. Utilizing our extensive and growing Education and Outreach Program, residents have the opportunity to train and educate fellow healthcare professionals, parents, and children about oral health. Residents also provide oral health screenings at day care centers, Head Start programs, and schools. Through our affiliation with Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry second year residents receive pre-doctoral teaching experience. The Temple University Hospital Pediatric Dental Residency Program offers a unique clinical and didactic curriculum. The program is proud of our past residents with over 98% of recent graduates passing the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry examination and five Pugh Scholars in the classes of 2017, 2019 (2), 2020 (2) and 2021 (2).

- The program accepts international students requiring Visa status but requires that all matriculating residents have obtained a DMD or DDS from a CODA-accredited dental school.
