Our training program is tailored to meet each individual's career goals, but also includes acquisition of research skills, required didactic instruction, and field experiences including community-oriented inter-professional clinical care. This program is designed to fulfill the requirements of the American Board of Dental Public Health (ABDPH).
Each graduate student is required to:
- develop a training plan with their mentor based on prior education and experiences;
- complete coursework and training in topics such as population health, health literacy, and practice transformation;
- participate in field experiences designed to increase thier cultural sensitivity and understanding of minority groups; and
- complete at least one research or administrative project in accordance to ABDPH project report format.
They are also strongly encouraged to take the written examination offered by the ABDPH prior to completing the program.

- All applicants must have completed a MPH (Masters in Public Health).
TOEFL Requirement Instructions
- TOEFL score of at least 85 on TOEFL iBT (550 paper-based)
- TOEFL Essentials score of at least 8.5
- IELTS score of at least 6.0
- GRE Verbal Reasoning score of at least 146 (400 on the old scale)
Other Requirement Instructions
For US Dental School DDS, DMD or dental school student applicants
- NBDE exam result should be submitted through PASS
- GRE is NOT required
- ADAT test is NOT required
- No additional application fee required
For International school applicants
- TOEFL score is required (Texas A&M code is 6003)
- NBDE exam result should be submitted through PASS
- GRE is required
International Student Eligibility
This program will consider applicants who graduated, or plan to graduate, from a non-CODA accredited dental school: Yes
Applicants are eligible to enroll if they are:
- US Citizen
- US Permanent Resident
- Canadian Citizen
- Canadian Permanent Resident
- Non-US Citizen/Resident (program offers sponsorship)
- The University offers sponsorship for F1 visa status. H1B status is not supported for graduate students. Any other visa status should have employment authorization approved that will last the entire length of the program.
