At Texas A&M University College of Dentistry, we train Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons to exude excellence as compassionate clinicians, innovative researchers, and dedicated educators. With an emphasis on evidence-based practice, our residency program encompasses the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery thoughtfully balanced between Trauma, Dentoalveolar, Orthognathic, Pathology, TMJ, Reconstruction, Implantology, and Craniofacial Surgery.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residents in the six-year, combined MD/OMS Certificate Program (OMS2005) spend the first 7 months on-service before integrating into the Texas A&M University School of Medicine as an advanced standing, full-time medical student. After completing 17 months of medical school, residents rejoin the OMS service as a 3rd year followed by a General Surgery preliminary internship at Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) which includes 5 months of combined adult and pediatric anesthesia rotations at Parkland Hospital and Children's Hospital, Dallas as a 4th year. 5th year finds our residents off-service at Texas Health Resources, Harris Methodist Hospital in Ft. Worth where they gain experience in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and ENT in addition to being the sole resident member of the TAMU OMS facial trauma and dental infection faculty call team. Sixth and chief year represents the culmination of intense training in oral and maxillofacial surgery and serves as the final transition from resident learner to independent surgeon.

Among the ranks of our graduates are world-renowned surgeons, academic department heads, institutional deans, organizational leaders at the local, regional, and national levels, and leading private practice consultants spanning the country. Likewise, offering expertise across the breadth of contemporary maxillofacial surgery, our nationally and internationally recognized faculty surgeons are among the finest in the country, holding specialty and subspeciality training and certifications.
