Our Certificate program in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology is offered only in combination with the Master of Science (M.S.) Degree in Oral Biology. The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association.
A certificate in Periodontics is awarded upon successful completion of the 35 month curriculum in the Advanced Training Program in Periodontics. Assigned faculty teach didactic and clinical courses on all aspects of periodontics, including etiology, pathogenesis, systemic interactions/considerations, diagnosis, treatment planning, surgical/non-surgical therapy, maintenance care, dental implantology, interdisciplinary considerations, and oral medicine/stomatology. In order to receive the certificate in periodontics, each candidate is required to complete and defend a M.S. thesis research project, which may be either a clinical research project or laboratory-based research project. External rotations include Children's Medical Center & Baylor Scott & White Hospital anesthesiology in operating room environment. Guest lecturers from private practice are frequently invited to speak on topics selected by current graduate students.
