The Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences El Paso, proudly offers a comprehensive four-year residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Our program is committed to providing a rich and extensive surgical training experience through a broad scope of clinical exposure and a significant patient volume within the El Paso region and beyond. Our dedicated faculty, many with specialized expertise within OMS, are committed to the education and development of our residents. Serving the diverse population of El Paso and acting as a key referral center in the region, our residents gain firsthand experience in a variety of clinical settings, including High Desert Oral and Facial Surgery, University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC), and El Paso Children’s Hospital (EPC). Our faculty are dedicated leaders and educators in the field, ensuring that our graduates are exceptionally well-prepared for a successful career across the full spectrum of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Eligibility & Documentation

  • Citizenship: You must hold U.S. citizenship or be a legal permanent resident.

  • Application Portal: All materials must be submitted through the ADEA PASS program.

  • Legal Clearance: Final enrollment is contingent upon a successful criminal background check.

Educational Requirements

  • Degree: You must hold a DDS or DMD from a CODA-accredited institution (U.S., Canadian, or international).

  • Standardized Testing: * Passing scores on the INBDE are mandatory.

    • Completion of the CBSE is required.

    • TOEFL scores must be submitted via ADEA PASS for international applicants.

Academic Performance & Selection

  • Competitive Standing: Preference is typically given to those in the top 10–15% of their graduating class with superior GPAs and CBSE scores.

  • Alternative Evaluation: If your school does not provide a GPA, your letters of recommendation must strongly emphasize your academic and professional excellence.

  • Interviews: Candidates are selected for interviews by invitation only; an interview is a mandatory step in the final selection process.
