The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Hospital Dentistry Institute offers a one-year, fully accredited, hospital-based General Practice Residency training program in advanced general dentistry. The General Practice Residency is designed to prepare the general dentist to provide a wide range of comprehensive dental services to all types of patients, with an emphasis on patients who are medically and physically compromised or have special health care needs. An annual stipend is provided to each resident.  The stipend amount is determined by the Graduate Medical Education Office.
