The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) offers a premier, 48-month CODA-accredited residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. As the only OMFS residency program in Mississippi and the state’s only Level 1 Trauma Center, our residents benefit from an unparalleled volume of complex cases and a primary role in managing high-acuity maxillofacial injuries.
Why Choose UMMC OMFS?
- Fellowship-Trained Faculty: Learn directly from a diverse team of surgeons who have completed advanced fellowships in sub-specialties including Head and Neck Oncology and Facial Cosmetic Surgery. This ensures you receive specialized, evidence-based training across the entire scope of the field.
- Elite Clinical Autonomy: With a focused class size of only two residents per year, you receive a bespoke, high-intensity surgical experience. Our residents benefit from early, hands-on operative starts and direct one-on-one mentorship.
- Comprehensive Full-Scope Mastery: Our residents are trained across the entire spectrum of the specialty. From Head and Neck Oncology to Complex Orthognathic and Maxillofacial Trauma Surgery, you will graduate with the clinical confidence to lead in any practice environment.
- A Diverse Patient Base: As the state’s primary referral center, our program provides exposure to a vast array of pathology and complex reconstruction rarely seen in regional programs, ensuring you are exceptionally prepared for ABOMS Board Certification.
