The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) School of Dentistry offers a rigorous and rewarding 48-month Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program, fully accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. With a maximum class size of two residents per year, we offer a personalized learning experience with ample opportunity for mentorship and hands-on training.

Our program provides comprehensive exposure to the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery. Training takes place in both outpatient (UMMC School of Dentistry) and hospital-based (University Hospital) settings, ensuring a well-rounded experience. You will develop expertise in:

  • Maxillofacial Trauma
  • Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery
  • Facial Reconstruction
  • Facial Cosmetics
  • Orthognathic Surgery
  • IV sedation / Dentoalveolar Surgery
  • Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Surgery
  • Craniofacial Surgery

Graduates of our program are well-prepared to pursue board certification with the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

 Following the MATCH date, our program also seeks 2 preliminary interns to complete a 12-month internship.
