The Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program currently has a 48-month duration certificate program and is designed to complete the requirements of the Commission on Dental Accreditation for an approved advanced educational program in oral and maxillofacial Surgery. We accept no more than two residents each program year.

The program operates out of the UMMC School of Dentistry for outpatient care and the University Hospital for inpatient and outpatient hospital-based care. The program offers a full scope training experience, including extensive training in maxillofacial trauma, head and neck pathology, facial reconstruction, orthognathic surgery, preprosthetic surgery, temporomandibular joint surgery, craniofacial surgery, exodontia and other surgery as it pertains to the specialty.
