Transcript Evaluation and Instructions

Please submit undergraduate and dental school transcripts (they can be student copies but need to be official- i.e. watermark etc) to PASS as well as a CV and 2 x 2 photo directly to the program.  

Letters of Evaluation Instructions

Please submit three leters of recommendation.  One must be from the Dean of the Dental School.

Other Requirement Instructions

Visa Information- Jefferson Health sponsors H1-B and J1 visas at its sole discretion for residents entering graduate medical, dental and podiatric training programs.  Candidates who desire H1-B sponsorship must express that desire at the time of the program interview.  Candidates applying to any of the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital dental programs will be considered individually. The Thomas Jefferson University Hospital dental programs will indicate in writing their desure to sponsor an H1-B visa.  Candidates must not construe verbal communication as evidence of any Jefferson Health program's desire to sponsor an H1-B visa. 

 

You MUST be eligible for a PA unrestricted dental license to be considered for this program, which means you must have graduated from a CODA-accredited 4 yr or 2 yr advanced standing dental program.  

International Student Eligibility

This program will consider applicants who graduated, or plan to graduate, from a non-CODA accredited dental school: No

Applicants are eligible to enroll if they are:

  • US Citizen
  • US Permanent Resident
  • Canadian Citizen
  • Canadian Permanent Resident
  • Non-US Citizen/Resident (program offers sponsorship)
  • Non-US Citizen/Residents will be considered for sponsorship if you have graduated, or plan to graduate, with a DMD or DDS degree from a CODA-accredited dental school. Either 4 year or advanced standing will be considered. You do not need to be a US or Canadian citizen, but you MUST be eligible for an unrestricted Pennsylvania dental license.

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Suregery at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals/Jefferson Health offers a two-year Orofacial Pain Residency program which is accredited by the Commission of Dental Accreditation (CODA).  As an academic medical center, within a regional healthcare system, Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals (Center City, Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience, Methodist Hospital), which is encompassed in Jefferson Health (Center City, Abington, Northeast, New Jersey, Magee Rehabilitation Services, Philadelphia University, Einstein) is dedicated to maintainng excellence in patient care, providing quality clinical settings, serving as positive role models to health professional students and developing improved methods of healthcare delivery in a cost-effective manner.  This mission is achieved through:

Clinical training is supplemented by a comprehensive didactic program.  This program offers advanced training in orofacial pain and related conditions including headache disorders, temporomandibular disorders (TMD), neurological disorders (neuralgias, neuropathies, atypical facial pain, etc.) and sleep breathing disorders.  Our program consist of clinical training with program faculty and elective rotations with Otolaryngology, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Sleep Center, Headache Center and other related departments throughout our healthcare system.  The Orofacial Pain Residency program mirrors our institutions' commitment to learning and discovery that will be evident to health professional students and researchers as they experience the opportunities made available to cultivate their professional and personal growth.
