Tufts University School of Dental Medicine’s innovative Dental Public Health (DPH) Residency is a 2-year program that offers advanced training in the art and science of dental public health as well as in the practice of clinical dentistry in community health settings. The DPH residency is in-person full-time for 2 years (24 months) and includes advanced-level didactic, research, field/community service, and clinical experiences in both years of the residency program. A certificate in Dental Public Health is awarded upon completion of the program requirements. Residents will be eligible to take the ABDPH board examination in the last term of year 2 and will be eligible to certify to become Diplomates of the ABDPH.
The program prerequisites for eligibility to apply include:
- Dentists with DMD/DDS or foreign equivalent dental degrees, such as BDS
AND - Completed graduate-level training in an accredited university in the United States or Canada in general public health, such as Master's in Public Health (MPH) or Master of Science (MS) with a concentration in a topic related to general public health

Transcript Evaluation and Instructions

Letters of Evaluation Instructions

TOEFL Requirement Instructions

- Minimum overall test score of 7.0 achieved on the Academic format of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
- Minimum overall test score of 90 achieved on the internet based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

Additional Information

If you submit unofficial transcripts or student grade reports you will be asked to send the official transcript by mail or in PDF format to the school. When transcripts are uploaded with the PASS application they are considered unofficial and we require the information from the official transcript that can be lacking in the unofficial forms. Should you be accepted to the program the hardcopy official transcripts will need to be sent to the school.
