Additional Information

UAB provides a one-of-a-kind experience that sets it apart from the rest of the programs in the country. That is, it provides a high-volume and full scope experience with a large number of highly-trained faculty, most of which are fellowship trained, in a hospital not only captures patients in the state of Alabama, but the whole southeast. We are fortunate to have state-of-the-art facilities, equipment and interdisciplinary care teams to manage the most complex of patients as well as perform ongoing clinical trials to optimize survival outcome for our patients. The breadth of knowledge and educational support provided by the department and faculty are second to none. Whether the OMS resident decides to go into a private practice, hospital-based, or academic career, he/she will be well-equipped with the knowledge and technical skills to treat a patient with any oral and maxillofacial disease or disorder. Furthermore, the camaraderie at the resident level is clearly evident at UAB if an OMS prospect has the chance to extern with us. We highly value resident learning via mentorship. -John Le, 5th year resident
