The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix is a comprehensive four-year program with clinical and didactic training based at Banner University Medical Center - Phoenix. The ultimate goal of the program is to produce future board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeons. This is accomplished by preparing practitioners to treat diseases, injuries and defects involving both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region. The residency provides extensive surgical experience and exposure in areas such as oral and maxillofacial pathology, maxillofacial trauma, reconstruction, orthognathic, dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, TMJ surgery, and outpatient ambulatory anesthesia.

Upon satisfactory completion of the four-year program, residents receive a certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

OMS GrandRounds conferences are held every Monday along with four hours of didatics in which the program conducts teaching sessions using the SCORE data bank (didactics and case review), and the OMS journal club convenes monthly. Residents often attend  the AAOMS meeting, orthognathic, trauma, and other select conferences throughout the academic year. Applicants will be required to submit the Comprehensive Basic Science Exam (CBSE) score offered by the AAOMS.
