The UAMS General Practice Residency is a full-time program located in the heart of Little Rock, with up to 6 positions. This program is a one-year residency with an optional second year with advanced training tailored to the resident’s interest. The resident will spend 10 months of the year at the UAMS Oral Health Clinic providing hands-on treatment to ambulatory and hospitalized patients. The other two months consist of rotations at UAMS in Otolaryngology, Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, and Family Medicine.
The programs strives to maintain a private practice environment to assist the resident in the transition from academics to “real world dentistry”. Residents get experience in advanced dental techniques including Oral surgery (third molar extractions, bone grafts, implant placement for single crowns and overdentures, alveoloplasty, tori removal), Endodontics (molar and microscope assisted root canal treatments), periodontal procedures (crown lengthening , flap surgery), prosthodontics (full mouth rehab, overdentures). The residency emphasizes comprehensive patient care with extensive experience in evaluating medically compromised patients and providing dental consultations for various hospital services. Residents will experience the integral role that dentistry plays in providing dental clearance for medically necessary procedures including head and neck radiation, solid organ transplant, stem cell transplant and cardiovascular surgery.

- Advanced training in the treatment of intellectually and developmentally disabled patients including providing dental care under general anesthesia in an OR setting
- 100% acceptance rate into specialty programs following completion of GPR at UAMS- OMFS, PEDS, PERIO, ENDO
Little Rock is a big city with a small town feel. It is optimally located in the center of the state allowing easy access to all the natural state has to offer including hiking, water sports, and biking. Along with the various outdoor activities, Little Rock also provides vast experiences in culinary, cultures, and arts.

Personal statement submitted through ADEA PASS is required, and applicants must be eligible for licensure in the state of Arkansas upon matriculation into the program.
