The College of Dentistry at The University of Iowa offers a three-year postdoctoral program in Prosthodontics leading to a Master of Science degree and certificate in Prosthodontics.

The program is approved and accredited by the Council on Education of the American Dental Association. Upon completion of all requirements, each student is educationally qualified for examination and certification by the American Board of Prosthodontics.

Applications are only accepted through PASS and only application materials completed by August 15th of each year will be considered.  Mandatory interviews of selected applicants are conducted during late August.

We believe that the major strength of our prosthodontic program is the variety and depth of patient treatment experiences available to our residents. Our residents are provided with progressive clinical, laboratory and didactic training in fixed, removable, maxillofacial and implant prosthodontics.

Our residents spend portions of their clinical time at the College of Dentistry and the University Hospitals and Clinics. Through these 2 clinical facilities, the residents will treat a variety of complex prosthodontic patients in addition to experiences with medically compromised patients, geriatric patients and patients requiring maxillofacial rehabilitation. The interrelation of other medical/dental clinical specialties is also emphasized.

The University of Iowa College Of Dentistry has a state of the art facility with newly renovated clinics devoted to prosthodontics. Each resident is assigned his/her own clinic operatory, study area, and laboratory bench.  The department has its own implant surgical suite for placing implants within our clinic and state-of-the-art digital technology facility.  The clinical facility utilizes electronic patient records, digital radiography and volumetric imaging as well as digital photography.

The program is a full time commitment for a period of 36 months. Current annual tuition is about $14,000 for applicants with US dental degree and about $27,000 for international applicants. All residents recieve $12,000 a year stipend.
