The Advanced Program in Endodontics at the University of Kentucky will produce graduates with specialty training in the areas of non-surgical and surgical management of endodontic disease.  In addition areas of oral facial pain, trauma, oral medicine and complex diagnosis will be part of the didactic and clinical program.  The certificate program is a full time 24-month program consisting of didactic, clinical, teaching and research components.  There are three (3) graduate students per year.  The goal of the program is to prepare  graduates for careers in either endodontic academics, or private specialty practice.  The Advanced Program in Endodontics at the University of Kentucky is based on guidelines recommended by the American Association of Endodontists and approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association.  Graduate students will treat patients who are medically compromised, those that present for emergency care and those requiring advanced diagnostic evaluaitons and development of complex treatment plans which include placement of implants, prosthetic treatments and treatment for non-odontogenic facial pain.  Graduate students will be able to discuss cases among various specialty disciplines within the college including periodontics, orthodontics, oral surgery, pathology and oral facial pain.

Please submit three (3) letters of recommendation, one of which should be from an endodontic faculty member or endodontist familiar with your previous clinical and/or didactic endodontic accomplishments.

  1. DDS/DMD degree from a CODA Accredited United States or Canadian Dental School.
  2. Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale) or equivalent or a cumulative ranking in the top 20% of the applicant's dental school graduating class.

Additional Information

The official deadline for submission of applications is July 1st for the class that matriculates in the following summer.  Interviews are limited in number and granted only when all documents have been received.  There will be two (2) dates for interviews selected.
