The University of Miami Hospital & Clinics General Practice Residency Program is a one year, with the option of a second year, postdoctoral education program based in Miami, Florida. The program accepts around 8 residents per year.
The program is based on outpatient and hospital dentistry, with a focus on patient care and an overview of all dental specialties. Each resident is encouraged to provide routine, complex and comprehensive care in healthy and medically-compromised patients.
Our didactic program consists of approximately 348 hours per year, covering all specialties of dentistry. The dental staff is comprised of both General Dentists and specialists.
Admission Process:
- We accept graduates of international dental schools if the candidate has satisfactorily completed an academic program of not less than four years, resulting in a degree, diploma, or certificate in dentistry recognized by the appropriate authorities of the country in which the school is located.
- All applicants must be legal residents with permanent status in the United States ("Green Card holders") or citizens of the United States. We do not accept any type of visa.
- Selection is based on application information sent via PASS.
- A TOEFL score above 80 is required, as well as NDBE parts I and II or INBDE.
- The admission consists of a three-step process. First, the applications submitted to PASS are evaluated. Qualifying applicants are then selected for a personal interview*. The final step consists of a diagnostic skills test or a psychomotor bench test. An Admission Bench Test fee may apply and is due in full on the day of the test.
* Only candidates selected for the personal interview will be contacted.
GPR Program Tuition:
Estimated tuition is $55,000.00 per year.
