The Graduate Program in Endodontics at the University of Minnesota is one of the oldest endodontic programs in the United States. It has a long and distinguished history of contributions to the specialty, both through our research efforts and through our graduates. The program is 26 months in duration, and a Masters thesis is required of each resident. There is no certificate only option. Four applicants are accepted each year to start the following summer. The program begins on July 1 of each year, and concludes with graduation 26 months later on August 31.
Instruction includes extensive exposure to the scientific literature that forms the knowledge base of endodontics. In addition, a wide array of new technologies and instruments are incorporated into the educational program. Didactic instruction is in the form of traditional classes as well as seminars, and ample clinic time is provided to develop clinical skills. Research is also an important part of the curriculum and residents are expected to present table clinics and poster presentations of their research at the American Association of Endodontists Annual Meeting. Graduates of the University of Minnesota are well-equiped to enter the world of practice as well as make signifcant contributions not only to endodontics, but to the entire profession of dentistry.
