Goals of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Training Program

  • To train individuals within an ethical and service-based framework to be thoroughly competent in all phases of the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
  • To provide opportunities to interface and collaborate with our dental and medical colleagues both locally and abroad.
  • To provide experience in research to allow a better appreciation for the scientific bases of the specialty and biomedical sciences.
 

A graduate of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Training Program at the University of Minnesota is well trained in the full-scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery.

The training program is a full-time 48 month program. The program includes didactic courses and clinical exposure to topics related to the specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery. The course of study is organized to allow the student to work closely with the full and part-time faculty at the primary and affiliate hospitals. The resident will acquire the skills necessary to assume positions of increasing responsibility in the medical and surgical care of the OMS patient.

US or Canadian Dental School training required and International applicants are NOT able to apply for U of MN OMS residency.

The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program requires a CBSE score of 50 EPC (200 or 60 on the old system) or higher to qualify for an Interview.
