UNMC College of Dentistry Endodontics Residency Program

 

The UNMC College of Dentistry has offered a fully accredited advanced education program in endodontics since 1970. The program leads to a certificate of specialization in endodontics which satisfies the requirements mandated by the American Board of Endodontics for examination and board certification.

The top-tier program combines clinical, didactic and community outreach learning experiences. This hands-on approach enables residents to develop exceptional diagnostic, clinical and critical thinking skills. Residents receive outstanding education and training in diagnosing and treatment planning for various pulpal and periapical conditions.

The program is committed to providing a high standard of education and training for those pursuing careers in private practice and/or dental academia. Residents gain hands-on experience delivering high-quality diagnosis and treatment planning to patients in Nebraska and the Midwest.

The program is based at the UNMC College of Dentistry in Lincoln, where residents have the privilege of treating a diverse patient base.

Residents receive a stipend and benefits package. GME-eligible postgraduate students are eligible for a flexible benefits package, which includes options for health, life and disability insurance.

Program Goals

  • Recruit competent interested highly qualified dental citizens of Nebraska, other U.S. states and/or from other countries.
  • Provide a high standard in education and training to pursue careers in dental academic and/or private practice necessary to be proficient in endodontics.
  • Provide the highest quality of diagnosing and treatment planning for various pulpal and periapical conditions to the residents of Nebraska and the Midwest.

UNMC's deadline for the Endodontics Residency Program is July 1. (PASS has an August 1 deadline.) Please be mindful of this discrepancy when applying. 

Foreign trained dentists without an A.D.A.-accredited dental college/school degree are not eligible due to licensing restrictions.

UNMC College of Dentistry does not sponsor student visas.

Eligibility:

Must have:

  • Professional dental degree from an A.D.A.-accredited dental college/school with degree designation of DDS or DMD.
  • Provisional acceptance exists for students in the final stages of dental education. 
  • Valid license to practice within the U.S. (current or by the program start date).
  • A Nebraska dental license (required to participate in the program). 
  • Foreign trained dentists without an A.D.A.-accredited dental college/school degree are not eligible due to licensing restrictions.

This program will consider applicants who graduated, or plan to graduate, from a non-CODA accredited dental school: No

  • Non-US Citizen/Resident (applicant must obtain their own sponsorship)

  • The PASS website has an August 1 deadline, but UNMC's deadline is July 1. Please be mindful of this discrepancy when applying. 
  • Payment instructions for the Supplemental Application Fee  will be sent by email after the PASS application has been submitted.
  • The application needs to be complete for an applicant to be considered during the review process.
