You'll receive hospital-based clinical experience at Children’s Nebraska, treating children’s complex dental needs, including sedation and operating room experiences. Our intricately designed residency experience includes instruction, hospital clinical experiences and community outreach to underserved populations. You'll begin treating patients during your first month. This combination of experiences and focus on hands-on learning will help you build exceptional diagnostic, clinical and critical-thinking skills. Our residents complete cutting-edge, award-winning research projects with guidance from our faculty. You'll explore challenges and make discoveries with the potential to change the future of oral health care.
The UNMC College of Dentistry has offered a fully accredited advanced education program in pediatric dentistry since 1947.
Clinical training is conducted at the Pediatric Dental Clinic located at Children's Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha. Residents gain extensive experience working in collaboration with other pediatric medicine specialties.

Accepted Applicants who are 2027 Graduates: Official final dental school transcripts are required to be submitted to the admissions administrator by June 30, 2027.

Important Eligibility Requirements (not all inclusive)
- Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.

Must hold a DDS or DMD degree from a CODA‑accredited U.S. dental school or a CDAC‑accredited dental school in Canada.
- Applicants must be registered with the National Matching Service.
- Must pass the INBDE (or passed NBDE Parts 1 & 2) by program start date.
- Valid U.S. denal license (current or by the program start date).
- Nebraska dental license (required to participate in the program).

- Provisional acceptance exists for students in the final stages of dental education.
- Must submit a passport photo sized headshot (2"x2") to the program. Digital preferred. Please email photo to Julie Buss at jbuss@unmc.edu.
- The Advanced Dental Admission Test (ADAT) is not required, but official ADAT scores received by the application deadline will be strongly considered.
- UNMC College of Dentistry Pediatric Dental Residency Program is located in Omaha, Nebraska.
- Foreign trained dentists without an accredited dental college/school degree from the United States or Canada are not eligible due to licensing restrictions.
- UNMC College of Dentistry does not accept students on any type of visa or offer sponsorship of any type of visa.
